PM Modi says that radio is a great medium, which deepens social engagement. In his tweet, PM Modi wrote, "Happy World Radio Day! Greetings to all radio listeners and kudos to all those who keep the radio buzzing with innovative content and music. This is a fantastic medium, which deepens social connect. World Radio Day is celebrated every year on 13 February. Radio started in India in 1924 and All India Radio started in the year 1936. In 1957, All India Radio was renamed All India Radio. Radio is no longer the only medium of entertainment. News and essential news are transmitted through radio to far-flung areas. Radio has also been an important part of India's freedom struggle. Realizing the power of radio, PM Modi addresses the nation through the 'Mann Ki Baat' program at the end of every month and tries to connect with the public.
We have all listened to the radio as the first media. Radio came when there was no other medium of mass communication. Radio is still much preferred today, be it FM radio or Internet radio. We all remember the old hit show Binaca Geetmala of radio even today. We can still recognize the voice and style of Ameen Sayani, the first famous announcer on the radio.
