New Delhi: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, March  10, will inaugurate the third session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) where stakeholders get together to share their experience and knowledge, and discuss the latest developments and trends in disaster risk management.

Over a thousand people are expected to attend the NPDRR session, including union ministers, state ministers of disaster management, parliamentarians, local self-government leaders, executives from specialised disaster management organisations, academics, and representatives from the private sector, the media, and civil society organisations.
The session's theme, "Building Local Resilience in a Changing Environment," is in line with the prime minister's 10-point strategy for strengthening local capacities, particularly in the wake of a rapidly shifting catastrophe risk scenario.
"PM Modi will assist recipients of the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar during the event. The Lunglei Fire Station in Mizoram and the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) were named the winners of the 2023 Puraskar, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The Prime Minister will open an exhibition that will feature cutting-edge Disaster Risk Reduction programmes, tools, and technology. It will pinpoint gaps, offer suggestions, and establish partnerships to quicken catastrophe risk reduction initiatives. Also, the session would aid in the broader adoption of disaster management procedures by ministries and departments, states and union territories, urban and rural local self-governments, academic institutions, NGOs, CSOs, PSUs, and communities.

On Friday, Modi will also speak at the first post-budget webinar on "Economic Empowerment of Women". The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Rural Development are responsible for organising the webinar.

The government has organised a series of post-budget webinars with the goal of developing a plan and a roadmap for putting the announcement into action. According to the ministry, this particular webinar was part of that series.
