PM unveils Dev projects worth Rs 1,780 crore in Varanasi

VARANASI: In his parliamentary district of Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stones for 28 development projects totaling more than Rs 1,780 crore. During a programme at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University ground in Varanasi,  PM Modi laid the foundation stones in presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel.

The Prime Minsiter laid the foundation stone of the passenger ropeway from Varanasi Cantonment station to Godowlia. Estimated project costs total Rs. 645 crore. The five stations along the 3.75-kilometer ropeway system will make it easier for locals, pilgrims, and tourists to move about.

Also, as part of the Namami Gange project, Modi lay the foundation stone for a 55 MLD (million litres per day) sewage treatment facility in Bhagwanpur. An estimated 300 crore rupees would be allocate on the project's construction.  Under the Khelo India scheme 2023, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Phase-II and Phase-III redevelopment work of Sigra Stadium.

Also, PM dedicated 19 drinking water projects for the Jal Jeevan Project, which will help over three lakh people in 63 panchayats. The prime minister dedicated 59 drinking water schemes included in the mission in order to further develop the rural drinking water infrastructure.

The other infrastructure projects that the Prime Minster will dedicate include an Air Traffic Control tower at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi; Two Megawatt solar power plant at water works premises, Bhelupur; new community health centre at Sarnath;   800 KW solar power plant at Konia pumping station; rejuvenation of temples at Kedareshwar, Vishweshwar and Omkareshwar Khand Parikrama, infrastructure improvement of industrial estate at Chandpur;  among others.
