April 26, 2016: PMK candidate for Salem West constituency R Arul and one more party functionary were hurt later than they were attacked by some anonymous men near Salem.

They further said, “Arul, his assistant, Vijayakumar, and a few party workers were engaged in election-related work in their office last night when four persons on motorcycles attacked them with lathis”

The assailants also injured two cars parked on the office grounds. “Arul and Vijayakumar suffered injuries on the head, face and shoulders”, police said,

They added, “they have been admitted to the Salem Mohan Kumaramangalam Medial College Hospital”

Police think the participation of a rival group of PMK in the attack.
