New Delhi: On Sunday, PM modi in ‘ Mann Ki Baat’has announced that Indian has decided to setup a Laser Interferometer Gravitational- Wave Observatory (LIGO)where gravitational waves can be studied.
In his monthly radio programme, he also said Indian scientists were also in the team that studied gravitational waves.
After US’s Livingston in Louisiana and Hanford in Washington, India’s laboratory will be the third one of this king in the world.
PMO said,"Recently the Gravitational Waves have been discovered by the scientific community of the world, which is indeed a major achievement. We should be proud of the fact that Indian scientists were also part of it. Keeping this in mind, we have taken a decision to open a LIGO in India,"
Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory is a national facility for gravitational-wave research which giving opportunities for the deeper scientific community to engaged in data analysis, detector development and observation.
Narendra Modi introduced that within its limited resources India will also take part and give their contribution in the research through the LIGO.
