New Delhi: A 26-year-old man and his female companion, who ran a stolen car between people coming out of a mosque after offering Eid prayers on Wednesday in Shahdara area of the national capital, has been taken into custody. Police have confirmed the matter on Thursday. At the same time, the miscreants who vandalised and pelted the DTC buses in Jagatpuri after the incident are also being booked in the respective sections.

The action has been taken by the Delhi police after the video of some of the prayers being vandalised on social media went viral. Police said, the accused Shahrukh is a resident of Govindpur in Jagatpuri area. He and his 24-year-old female aide were arrested. There were no casualties in the incident. Police said the accused is involved in 27 counts of vehicle theft and looting. He said that on Wednesday morning, a drunk addict, Shahrukh, found that there was a large number of police forces stationed in the area. It scared him and he tried to flee. This happened during this event.
