NEW DELHI: Police have arrested 91 people, including Bhim Army Chief Chandrasekhar, in connection with Wednesday's violent protest against the demolition of the Ravidas temple in Tughlakabad, the national capital. All of them have been booked for rioting, damaging public and private property, arson and attacking policemen.
All the accused, including Chandrasekhar Ravana, will be produced before the Saket Court in Delhi today. More than 15 policemen were reported injured in the violent protests on Wednesday evening. DCP Chinmoy Biswal of South West Delhi had said, "There was violent clashes between police and protesters on Wednesday evening during a protest against the demolition of the Ravidas temple. Some policemen were injured. Several people, including Chandrasekhar Ravana, were arrested during the period. '
On the other hand, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has questioned the government's intention to hold the police responsible for the violence that erupted during the protests. Since the court's order on August 10 had not broken the administration of the temple of Tulgapabad saint Guru Ravidas, there has been a protest.
