Gaya: Several villagers, including women, were injured in the action taken by the police for illegally mining sand from the banks of a river in Gaya town of Bihar. The video of a part of the case is now going viral on social media. In the video, the hands of women and the elderly can be seen tied. In it, a voice is heard urging to open the hand.

In the viral video on social media, it can be seen that women and the elderly are standing in the field in the open. The hands of all are tied and the police force is present in the huge statistics around. The video has also been shared on Twitter from a handle called Mission Ambedkar. The video was captioned as "Gaya police in Bihar tied the hands of labourer girls and women". They were badly beaten up for opposing the sand mafia. 

 

 

Police said that the villagers started pelting stones at the mining department officials and the police team, who had gone near them to stop illegal sand mining. Subsequently, the police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells to control the people of the village. Local police claimed that nine policemen and about two dozen villagers were injured in the clash. However, according to sources, the villagers were not only injured after the brutal attack by the police, but the police allegedly tied the hands of the villagers and attacked them with lathis.
