THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to a Kerala Police officer, an Assam resident who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh and was on the run after being listed as the prime accused in a WildLife Act case was apprehended in Tamil Nadu's Nilambur by a team of police officials from both states.

Asarath Ali, the accused, was wanted in Assam for hunting down a one-horned rhinoceros, and the police had offered a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information on him. The arrest was made on Thursday, according to a police official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

"For the past three days, an Assam Police team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been in the state.
