New Delhi: The family of Police Head Constable Ratanlal, who was martyred during the violence in the national capital, has sat on a protest. The family says that Ratanlal should be given the status of 'martyr'. Ratanlal was martyred during the violence in Bhajanpura, Delhi, he was originally from Sikar in Rajasthan. On Wednesday, his family blocked the road leading to the ancestral village.

Ratanlal's family staged a 3-km-long protest on the road leading to Sikar. The family demands that unless Ratanlal does not get martyr status, he will not perform his last rites. The police constable Ratanlal's ancestral village is in Tihavali of Fatehpur Shekhawati, where the villagers along with the family are also sitting on a protest. High officials of Rajasthan Police have reached there at this time and are trying to convince the family.

Police officers are urged by the family to move out of the protests and perform the last rites of Ratanlal. During the violence on Monday in the north-eastern area of Delhi, the head constable Ratanlal was on duty. Ratanlal tried to stop the violence and during this time he got injured in the stone-pelting and was martyred.
