Patna: Total prohibition is going on in Bihar, but the smuggling of liquor continues there. The latest incident is from Chakia in Motihari, where a man was fleeing to escape a raid by the excise department and police. Due to this, he died after falling into a pit. According to the report, on Tuesday, a team of the excise department went to Chakia Baisaha village in Motihari to conduct a raid in search of liquor. Due to this, a shop was raided at Man Chowk in Chakia Nagar. There, a man named Nitesh Kumar started running after seeing the police.

Seeing the same man running away, the excise department and police started following him. Subsequently, the panicked youth fell into a pit filled with water and lost his life due to drowning. Shockingly, the excise department team ran away instead of rescuing the man after seeing him drowning in the water. Later, when the people of the village received this news, they pulled out the body of the young man from the water. After this, angry people brought the body to the Chakia police station and started protesting.

The police tried to convince the people, but the angry villagers and the family members of the deceased were not ready to accept. Due to this, the angry mob started pelting stones at the police, in which ASI Mohammad Aslam suffered head injuries and started bleeding. Seeing the case growing, the police also used a lot of lathis. Seeing the situation getting serious, the police of many police stations had to be called to Chakia police station. SDPO IPS Sharad RS also reached the spot. After this, the angry villagers blocked NH 27 and started cutting a lot of ruckuses. After about an hour of jam, the police reached there and chased everyone away and opened the jam. The police also took possession of the body and sent it to Motihari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
