Telangana Police have unearthed and defused landmines planted by Naxals near Penugolu village in Wazeedu Mandal in Khammam District with the goal of killing police officers.

"Top officials of the government-banned Maoist party militia members with arms plotted a plan to assassinate the Police party, according to reliable information received by Mulugu police. On Monday, officers found suspect electrical wires while investigating the area with the bomb disposal squad, which led to the discovery of land mines. According to officials, they promptly took steps and defuse the situation.

In a similar ancient, last year in June 26 police unearthed a few landmines and some explosive material from the pavement on the road from Koppusuru to Gundlavagu project area in Wazedu mandal.
