Mumbai: The policemen who captured Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Ajmal Kasab alive are going to get a promotion after 14 years. He received a medal and other honours as a reward in the year 2008 itself but was not promoted then. Now, after so many years, the Government has also filled that shortfall.
It has been said that on March 22, these police officers have been given a 'one-step' promotion. In such a situation, these policemen can get a monetary benefit of between 2 to 8 lakh. The great thing is that this promotion will be effective from 2008. Here, one step promotion means that those officers will be paid the same salary as those officers who are one post above their post.
For your information, let us know that after the 26/11 terror attack, the police managed to catch Ajmal Kasab alive. A total of 15 policemen then conducted an operation and caught the terrorist alive. Assistant Sub-Inspector Tukaram Ombale was martyred in that operation. Eight officers have now retired. Talking about that terrorist attack of 2008, it was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba. Within four days, these terrorists had carried out attacks in several areas of Mayanagari. There were two five-star hotels, hospitals and even railway stations. A total of 160 persons lost their lives in that terrorist incident. The country had also lost the then anti-terrorism squad chief Hemant Karkare. But then after the attack, the police had caught Ajmal Kasab alive and later the country's court sentenced him to death.
