On Monday, the NITI Aayog released a comprehensive report on the status of states towards the goal of sustainable development (SDG). In this, Kerala was once again at the forefront of achieving the goal of sustainable development. NITI Aayog has stated in the SDG India Index-2019 that UP has become one of the fastest improving states under the SDG, their performance is judged based on the progress of states in social, economic and environmental sectors and their ranking Is performed. NITI Aayog's Chief Executive Officer, Amitabh Kant while releasing the SDG Index, said that the 2030 SDG of the United Nations can never be achieved without India. We are committed to achieving the goals set by the United Nations for healthy development.

In the ranking of 2019, UP, Odisha, and Sikkim remained among the most implementing states, while there was no change in Gujarat and it remained on the ranking of 2018. Kerala topped the list with 70 points, while Union Territory Chandigarh with 70 points topped it. Among the states, Himachal Pradesh ranks second, Andhra Pradesh on the third, Tamil Nadu on the fourth and Telangana in the fifth. NITI Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar said that the states of the south have shown greater proactivity in achieving the goals of sustainable development.

Bihar, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh performed the worst in the race for development.
