Rajnath Singh is a prominent politician of the country and the current Defence Minister. Rajnath Singh is currently an MP from Lucknow. He has been the home minister of former India and is the former president of the present ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He had earlier served as the president of the youth wing of the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP.  He has also been the CM of UP.

He had been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 1964 at the age of 13 and was associated with the organization. He also became the Branch Executive (General Secretary) of Mirzapur in 1972. After 2 years in 1974, he came to Politics. Between 1969 and 1971, he was the Organisational Secretary of the All India Students' Council (Student Organization of RSS) in Gorakhpur. He became general secretary of the Mirzapur branch of RSS in 1972. In 1974, he was appointed secretary for the Mirzapur unit of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rajnath Singh has also been the party chief twice. Earlier, the achievement was held only by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani.

He became the national president of the BJP on December 31, 2005, held the post till December 19, 2009. In May 2009, he was elected mp from Ghaziabad in UP. He was the national president of the BJP for the second time from January 23, 2013, to July 09, 2014. After the party's landslide victory, Rajnath Singh resigned as party president to take over as home minister. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow seat and was later elected as a Member of Parliament. After which he was made home minister, and after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he has been given charge of the defence ministry of the country.
