These days the two most awaited movies of the year Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan and Ponniyin Selvan I released. Speaking about Vikram Vedha the movie saw a large fallout, Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 is doing very well at the Box office

As per Trade analyst Trinath the movie has grossed more than ₹300 crore globally. Ponniyin Selvan I had crossed over ₹100 crore in Tamil Nadu. However, Ponniyin Selvan: I worldwide box office figures, still pale compared to SS Rajamouli's directorial RRR, and KGF Chapter 2 starring Yash. Both films earned more than ₹600 crore nett gross.

The Trade analyst took to his social media and wrote, “PS1 is doing exceptionally well. The (Durga) puja holidays is drawing audiences in hordes and shows are going houseful for the entire week. Globally, the film has crossed over ₹300 crore and in Tamil Nadu, it has minted over ₹100 crore. This is emerging as the biggest blockbuster in Mani Ratnam’s career,”

Ponniyin Selvan is the first part of a two-part franchise that has been shot on a massive budget of 500 crore rupees.  Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular novel on the life of Raja Raja Chozhan,  Ponniyin Selvan: Part One has a screenplay written by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. PS1 will be the first of a two-part film series. It stars South Star Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vanthiyathevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Trisha as Kundhavai, and Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman.
