Kanpur: There are many areas across the country where people do not get clean water. In many places, the condition of groundwater and clean water is getting very bad. The problems only increase more because the common man does not know anything about these things, what kind of danger is there in the water he receives. And in such a situation, he keeps using harmful water until he feels any kind of problem.

IIT Kanpur has found a solution to this problem. Incubated at IIT Kanpur, start-up Earth Analytics Analytics Pvt Ltd and Kratsnam Technologies Pvt Ltd have developed a tool for analyzing and monitoring water quality using a colourimetric test-strip based on smartphone technology. The quality of water test can be done in less than 2 minutes in this device made by Dr Indra Sen, Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Kanpur.

Professor Sen said that we will assess the quality of water-based on its colour. There will be 14 standards of colour, on the basis of which we will be able to know about the elements involved in water. The present invention will solve all challenges in water quality monitoring. It uses a smart-phone based colourimetric test strip, which instantly screens many essential water quality standards. Professor Sen further said that the advantage of this device is that any person will be able to test the water at a lower cost in their home. For this, he will need to install the Padmavati app in the app. And in this way, every creature will be saved from using harmful water.
