Srinagar: On Saturday, July 27th, Dr. Amjad Ayub Mirza, a well-known activist from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), revealed details about increased terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that these attacks are not being carried out by terrorists but by the Pakistani army. According to Mirza, SSG General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Adil Rahmani is orchestrating attacks in the Jammu region.

Mirza also claimed that an entire battalion of SSG, consisting of at least 600 commandos, has infiltrated India and is hiding in the Kupwara area and other locations. The Kupwara area, located between the Pir Panjal and Shamsbari mountains, provides ideal hiding spots for terrorists and the Pakistani army. Local jihadi sleeper cells are reportedly supporting the Pakistani forces, facilitating their movements within Indian territory. Lieutenant Colonel Shahid Salim Janjua of the Pakistani Army is said to be commanding the attacks in Jammu, with Pakistan aiming to confront the 15th Corps of the Indian Army.
The Indian Army's 15th Corps, or Chinar Corps, is responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley. Mirza revealed that two more battalions of SSG are stationed in Muzaffarabad (PoK) and are ready to infiltrate Indian territory through Jammu and Kashmir. If these battalions, each consisting of about 500 soldiers, manage to enter India with the help of local jihadis, a Kargil-like war could erupt in the Pir Panjal hills. During the Kargil war, around 5,000 Pakistani soldiers entered Indian territory, resulting in a 62-day conflict that saw India reclaim the peaks of Kargil, but at the cost of 527 soldiers' lives.
The Pir Panjal Range, extending across Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), is a strategic infiltration route for terrorists and the Pakistani army. The dense forests, steep slopes, and numerous caves in the area provide perfect hiding spots for these forces. Indian soldiers have returned to the region after four years, supported by additional deployments of 3,000 PARA SF soldiers, 500 commandos, 200 snipers, J&K police personnel, and BSF battalions from Odisha. Operation Sarp Vinash 2.0 has been launched to eliminate terrorists and Pakistani soldiers hiding in the mountains. The operation, under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), involves continuous reporting to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the Army Chief.
The Indian Army has also activated Village Defence Guards (VDGs), who played a crucial role in combating terrorism in Jammu between 1995 and 2003. These VDGs have a comprehensive understanding of the local terrain, aiding the army and security forces in reaching inaccessible areas. Soldiers have been deployed across an 80 km radius of the mountainous regions, securing rivers, rain drains, and old infiltration routes. Additionally, the arrest of Over Ground Workers (OGWs), who provide shelter, food, and intelligence to terrorists, is ongoing throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
Following the recent election results, there has been a significant increase in terrorist incidents, suggesting that Pakistan and terrorists are upset with India's election outcome. On June 9, terrorists targeted a bus in Reasi, Jammu, resulting in nine fatalities. An OGW named Hakam Deen, who assisted the terrorists, was captured. Subsequent incidents include terrorist infiltrations and attacks in Kathua, Doda district, and Kulgam, resulting in multiple casualties among security forces and civilians. Chinese weapons recovered from killed terrorists indicate potential support from China.
In response, the Indian Army has intensified its efforts to eliminate terrorists hiding in the mountains, arrest their supporters, and secure the region. The situation remains tense, with the potential for a large-scale conflict reminiscent of the Kargil war.
