New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, focusing on ensuring that the benefits of numerous welfare schemes fully cover the targeted beneficiaries.

According to sources, Modi acknowledged the efforts of BJP-led governments to assist various sections of society, particularly the underprivileged. He shared on X (formerly Twitter), "Our Party is working tirelessly to further good governance and fulfill the aspirations of the people." The "mukhyamantri parishad," organized by the BJP at regular intervals, aims to review key state schemes, follow best governance practices, and ensure the delivery of central government welfare initiatives.

In addition to Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda, who is also the party president, along with Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam), Bhajanlal Sharma (Rajasthan), and Mohan Charan Majhi (Odisha), were among the leaders attending the first day of the two-day meeting. Chief Ministers from Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Manipur, and Chhattisgarh also participated in the deliberations.

The leaders occasionally discussed the political situation as well. This meeting follows the presentation of the Union budget, which has drawn criticism from the opposition for allegedly neglecting states like Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. It is also the first meeting since the Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP's performance was underwhelming, leading to a loss of the party's majority in the Lower House of Parliament. Nonetheless, party leaders emphasized that governance issues were the central focus of the discussions. The last such meeting was held in February.
