Noida: In order to control the price of onions that have crossed Rs 100 kg, the Noida administration has warned of taking action against hoarders and those increasing the rate. While issuing the order, City Magistrate Shailendra Kumar Mishra said that no one should sell onions for more than Rs 40 per kg and has issued a mobile number to stop hoarding of onions.
The administration also claimed to set up stalls selling onions at the rate of Rs 35 per kg at 3 places in the district, but when media personnel reached there to see the reality of this claim, we could not find the onion, just found a poster Onion was written as ₹ 35 kg.
On discovering the market of Noida Sector-88, the reality was revealed that onion is not getting ₹ 35 kg, but the price of onion is ₹ 70 kg or more.
Onion sellers said that they cannot deliver onions at such low prices, because they have to buy onions at high prices and selling ₹ 35 kg will hurt them a lot. In Noida Sector-82 vegetable market, onion is being sold at the rate of ₹ 70 per kg. Following the order of the City Magistrate, some shops have stopped selling onions, as it is not possible for them to sell ₹ 35 kg of onions.
