New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) in the country has completed seven years today. In these seven years, more than 43.04 crore Jan Dhan Bank Accounts (PMJDY) have been opened across the country. The Jan Dhan Scheme was launched on August 28, 2014, as a National Mission for Financial Inclusion. The point to note here is that these accounts currently have Deposits of Rs. 1,46,231 crores.
According to data released by the Finance Ministry, three times as many bank accounts have been opened today under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana as compared to March 2015. While Jan Dhan accounts were 14.72 crore in March 2015, 43.04 crore bank accounts have been opened till August 18, 2021. Out of these, RuPay cards have been issued to more than 31.23 crore account holders. According to the latest information, about 55 percent of the account holders in the Jan Dhan Yojana in rural and semi-urban areas are women, while 67 percent are male account holders. Out of a total of 43.04 crore Jan Dhan accounts, 36.86 crore bank accounts are currently active, i.e. transactions are taking place.

With the support of technology, it is to reduce costs and reach out to as many people as you can. The government says the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is one of the world's largest financial inclusion initiatives to achieve unique achievements in independent India.
