NEW DELHI: Due to heavy rainfall in Delhi, the Pragati Maidan tunnel has been closed for the second consecutive day. The tunnel has experienced waterlogging, leading the Delhi Police to place barricades at its entry points, preventing traffic movement. The Delhi Traffic Police advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly. The recent monsoon downpour caused significant disruption in residential and commercial areas of the capital. According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded 153 mm of rain within a 24-hour period, ending at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. This was the highest rainfall recorded in a single day in July since 1982. As a result, waterlogging occurred at 54 locations on Sunday, causing traffic to come to a standstill in certain parts of the city.
