HANGZHOU: In a spectacular showcase of talent and unwavering determination, Pramod Bhagat, the distinguished para-badminton athlete, secured a gold medal in the men's singles SL3 category at the ongoing Para Asian Games this Friday.

This victory stands as an extraordinary achievement for Pramod as it completes his remarkable trio of gold medals, including previous triumphs at the Paralympics and World Championships.

Representing the nation for the fourth time in the Para Asian Games, Pramod notched up one gold and two bronze medals across the three events he participated in.

In a gripping showdown against his formidable compatriot Nitesh Kumar, Bhagat exhibited exceptional skills and unmatched resilience. The match unfolded in a heart-pounding manner, with both players engaged in a fierce back-and-forth.

In the initial game, Pramod narrowly outperformed Nitesh with a score of 22-20. Nitesh retaliated vigorously, claiming the second game with a score of 21-19. The destiny of the gold medal came down to the decisive third game.

In the third game, Nitesh got off to a strong start, maintaining an early lead as Pramod trailed by nearly four points. Nitesh appeared to be on the verge of clinching the match, with a commanding 18-14 lead. However, Pramod managed to stage a remarkable comeback, scoring two consecutive points while still trailing 19-16 in Nitesh's favor. Just as he staged an improbable comeback at the Paralympic finals, Pramod once again displayed his resilience and stunned Nitesh, ultimately securing the final game 21-19 and retaining his well-deserved gold medal.
