Praveen Kumar, one of India's finest bowler is celebrating his birthday today. Praveen Kumar was born on 2 October 1986, in Meerut city, Uttar Pradesh. He has been a right-arm medium-speed bowler. Praveen Kumar is one of the few bowlers in the country who had the ability to swing the ball in both directions very efficiently. He also batted well. He has also played an opener in some matches for the UP team.

Praveen Kumar played the first first class match in 2005. He took 41 wickets in the first season of Ranji Trophy and was selected as the best young cricketer of the year. Soon his selection was made in the Indian team. However, his international career did not last long. Praveen Kumar played the first international match against Pakistan in 2007. He played his last international match in 2012 against South Africa.

Also Praveen Kumar played 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals. He took 27 wickets in Test matches and scored 149 runs at an average of 14.90. Similarly, he took 77 wickets in ODIs and scored 292 runs at an average of 1390. In T20 matches, he took 8 wickets and scored 7 runs at an average of 2.33. Praveen Kumar could also be part of the team that won the World Cup in 2011, but could not do so due to injury.
