Tamil Nadu government announces extension of lockdown by one more week to control corona epidemic. The lockdown announced earlier in the state was ending on May 24. This has now been extended by one week. CM MK Stalin announced the government's decision after a meeting of the legislature committee consisting of officials as well as medical experts and representatives of all parties.

CM MK Stalin said the lockdown applicable to control the corona epidemic is being extended without any relaxation for the next one week from May 24. He said the restrictions will come into effect from Monday. The CA further said that shops will remain open till 9 pm on Saturday and from 6 am to 9 pm on Sunday while there will be a complete lockdown for the rest of the day.

According to the CM's statement, inter-district bus services will be available on Saturday and Sunday. The drug stores will remain open in extended lockdown and distribution of milk, water and newspapers will continue. Stalin said the horticulture department of the state will ensure that the supply of fruits and vegetables reaches the people through mobile outlets. Parcel service will continue from 6 am to 10 am, 12 noon to 3 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm. Services like Swiggy and Zomato will be operated. The people will have to construct e-passes to travel from one district to another.
