Guwahati: From the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, President Droupadi Murmu virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a number of projects on Thursday.
The project includes the inauguration of the supercomputer facility, by name 'Param Kamrupa', under the National Supercomputing Mission, and a laboratory for the design and development of high-power micro-wave components at IIT Guwahati.
President Murmu also virtually inaugurated the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital in Assam and laid the foundation stones for the National Institute of Virology's zonal institutes in Madhya Pradesh's Dibrugarh and Jabalpur. Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Bharati Pravin Pawar, Director of II Guwahati T G Sitharam, and other dignitaries were among the dignitaries present. The President in on a 2-day visit to Assam and it will wind up on Friday.
Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu flagged off two trains namely the Jan Shatabdi Express, which would go from Agartala to Khongsang in Manipur, and also the Agartala-Guwahati-Kolkata Special Express.
Earlier on Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu, who embarked in Tripura , inaugurated Tripura Judicial Academy and laid the foundation stone of the National Law University at Narsingarh, on the outskirts of the Agartala city.
