New Delhi: In a bid to facilitate in-vehicle navigation to the nearest public Electric Vehicle charger, India President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday unveiled the 'EV-Yatra Portal' developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

The launch was made during National Energy Conservation Day celebrations in New Delhi today. President Murmu also gave out prizes for the National Painting Competition, National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards, and National Energy Conservation Awards today in New Delhi.

Speaking at the meet, the President said, "It is the highest priority for all of us to ensure that future generations breathe in a pollution-free environment, progress well and live healthy lives. Breathing in clean atmosphere is a basic human right. By safeguarding the environment, we can protect many human rights."

The President stated that while facing the challenges of climate change and global warming, energy conservation is a global and also a national priority.

"Although India as a responsible country is considerably contributing to environment conservation, its per capita carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions are less than one-third of the world average," she said.

The President stated that India had encouraged the global community to live an eco-friendly lifestyle during COP-26 by presenting the "Lifestyle for Environment" (LiFE) message.

"Our manner of life has always been congruent with the philosophy of LIFE in Indian culture and tradition. Such a way of life includes respecting nature, not wasting natural resources, and taking steps to increase natural wealth. She claimed that India is working to persuade the entire global population to adopt such a lifestyle " she said.

The President mentioned India's G-20 presidency "85 percent of the global GDP and 75 percent of global trade are produced by G-20 nations. Additionally, the G-20 nations are home to 60% of the world's population. According to the ideal of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," India has adopted the subject of "One Earth, One Family, One Future" during its Presidency, and we are also distributing it on the international scene, she said."
