Kochi: 96-year-old Karthiani Amma and Bhagirathi Amma, 105, from Kerala will be honored with the 'Nari Shakti Puraskar 2019'. This honor will be conferred by President Ram Nath Kovind on 8 March. Karthiyani Amma topped the examination conducted under the Akshalakshyam literacy program in Kerala by bringing 98 percent. Amma has never been to school. Still, she topped at surprise the people.

Bhagirathi Amma is a resident of Kollam in Kerala. She attended the fourth class equivalent examination under the State Literacy Mission at the age of 105. She passed this examination with 74.4 percent. Bhagirathi Amma says that she wanted to study from childhood, but after the death of the mother in childhood, the responsibility of the siblings and the children after the death of the husband at the age of 30 came on her, due to which she got her dream.
