In the US presidential election, Donald Trump and Joe Biden's has been firmly engaged in wooing the small religious minority party. This was never seen before. This indicates the growing political importance of Hindus in America. Hindu representation in the US was around one percent in 2016.

Trump, the candidate for President and member of the Republican Party, has played a new card in the campaign. In which he has promised to reduce the obstacles in the path of religious freedom for Hindus in America. On the other hand, the campaign of his rival and Democrat candidate Biden said on Tuesday that he (former Vice President Biden) has given priority to contact with the Hindu community.

In addition, Trump's campaign for the first time in the US presidential election on August 14 announced the formation of a 'Hindu voice for Trump'. Two days after this, Neelima Gonuguntla, a prominent leader of the Hindu community, participated in inter-religious prayer to start the Democratic National Conference. In this regard, Biden's campaign said that this was another sign of increasing political importance of Hindus in America. The announcement was expected. Trump's campaign stated that "Trump respects the contributions of millions of American Hindus."
