New Delhi: One of the most essential items of the day is milk that is going to be expensive now. The half-litre milk packets will be expensive. The Centre has asked all dairy companies dealing in milk to do so. One litre of milk packets have to be paid at the old price. The government has taken this step to reduce the use of single use plastics. According to the report, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Secretary Atul Chaturvedi has asked Amul and other major dairy companies to reduce the production of half a litre of packets.
It has also asked for reuse of one litre of packets. Customers who return one litre of packets have been asked to give discounts. The government has asked dairy companies to use empty packets for use in road construction. Also, reduce the production of half a litre of packets from 2nd October. Apart from milk, curds and other milk products are sold in the smallest packets.
They use single-use plastic. Now, the Government wants to reduce the use of these. The government believes that people will reduce their use if the price is high. According to the Environment Ministry, the country generates 20,000 tonnes of plastic waste every day, of which only 14 thousand tonnes are collected. The garbage is affecting the environment a lot. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed for a ban on plastic on the 15th of this month.
