New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today got very emotional while discussing with doctors. He expressed grief over the deaths due to corona infection and paid homage to the deceased. He was addressing doctors and health workers in Varanasi. In his address, PM Modi said that in the second wave of corona, we have to fight together on many fronts, this time the transition rate is also many times higher than before. Patients are also having to stay in the hospital for a long time. All of this has created a huge pressure on our health system simultaneously.

He said Banaras is anyway the centre of health services not only for Kashi but also for the entire Poorvanchal. People from some parts of Bihar also depend on Kashi. Naturally, such a emphasis on the health system here became a big challenge. The work done on the health system here for the last 7 years has supported us a lot. Nevertheless, it has been possible to handle this pressure only through such a great struggle with our doctor, the health worker. All of you worked day and night to save the life of each patient, rising above your own problems and comfort. The way Banaras has handled itself in such a short span of time with your penance is being discussed all over the country today.

"Plants have been set up to increase oxygen supply, several new plants have been set up, new ventilators and oxygen demonstrators were arranged in Purvanchal including Banaras. The speed at which Banaras has increased the number of oxygen and ICU beds manifold in such a short span of time, the way Pandit Rajan Mishra covid hospital has been activated so quickly is also an example in itself. At the same time, he coined a new mantra of 'Jahan Bimar, Wahan Upchar' to tackle the Covid situation. PM Modi said, "With the concept of 'Jahan Bimar, Wahan Upchar', the practice of making containment zones to distributing door-to-door medicines in your city villages is commendable."
