Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Bhutan in the upcoming week, marking an important diplomatic engagement. Scheduled for March 21 and 22, the visit comes following an invitation from Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

The invitation was extended by Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay during his inaugural overseas trip since taking office in February 2024. The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Tobgay took place in New Delhi on Tuesday, where they discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation.

Both leaders reviewed the progress made in areas such as infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, hydropower cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. They reiterated their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship between India and Bhutan.

Accepting the invitation, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to the Bhutanese King. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed Modi's acceptance of the invitation.

Prime Minister Tobgay, in turn, expressed his appreciation for India's consistent support in Bhutan's development endeavors, emphasizing the strong and dependable partnership between the two nations.

Taking to social media, Prime Minister Modi shared pictures of his meeting with his Bhutanese counterpart, expressing his pleasure at the productive discussions and the unique bond shared between India and Bhutan. Similarly, Prime Minister Tobgay conveyed his gratitude to Modi for his unwavering support and announced Modi's upcoming visit to Bhutan in the following week.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two neighboring nations and foster greater cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit.
