United Kingdom: Prithvi Shaw, an Indian batsman, has signed a contract with Northamptonshire to play the remaining County Cricket matches in England as well as to participate in the upcoming Royal London One-Day Cup. At the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy, the 23-year-old is anticipated to join them.

Shaw is a member of a strong West Zone team that is predicted to advance all the way to the Duleep Trophy final, which will take place between July 12 and July 16. Although he may have slipped in the Indian team's hierarchy, he continues to be a prolific run-scorer for his state team, Mumbai, across all formats of the game.

Shaw hasn't played any first-class cricket in six months, although in a Ranji Trophy match against Assam in January 2023, he did score a career-high 379 runs off just 383 balls.

Since India won the Under-19 World Cup in 2018, Shaw has advanced through the ranks in large part due to his rapid runscoring skills. He made an incredible debut in Test cricket, striking a century, but he has since had trouble adjusting to the kind of bowling available in international red-ball cricket. He played his final match for India in 2020 as a first-choice selection, and he only returned when they sent a backup team to Sri Lanka in 2021.

Shaw most recently played for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. He experienced a six-game slump during which he was unable to score more than 15 runs, which resulted in his removal from that lineup as well. He did come back later in the competition, and he quickly reached fifty.

Northamptonshire competes in the English County Championship's Division One. They have played seven games so far, winning just one, and there are still seven left to play.

Shaw will be participating in domestic cricket for the first time in the UK. He will join Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Ajinkya Rahane (Leicestershire), Arshdeep Singh (Kent), and Navdeep Saini (Worcestershire) as the fifth Indian to play in the 2022–23 season.

In white-ball cricket, where it is considerably simpler to hit through the line of the ball, Shaw is a very alluring package. With an average of 52.54, a strike rate of 123.27, and eight centuries, one of which is a double, he is very close to 3000 List A runs. Gautam Gambhir, a former India opener, even predicted in 2022 that he would eventually become the nation's leader.
