New Delhi: Congress veteran and current MLA of Maharashtra Assembly Prithviraj Chavan has written a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Minister demanding an immediate refund on the cancel ticket. Chavan has said that the money of the passengers whose tickets were cancelled due to the lockdown should be returned as soon as possible.
Prithviraj Chavan has written in this letter to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri that instructions should be given to all airlines for this. Chavan has also said that refunds on tickets should be given within a certain time. He said that if the money is not returned, it will be a violation of consumer rights. In the letter dated 14 June by Prithviraj Chavan, it is written that 'Indian consumers (passengers), who had to cancel their flight tickets after the lockdown was announced, are entitled to get a cash refund. The Consumer Protection Act provides consumers with the right to withdraw cash.
He said that many airlines including Air India are not following it and are forcing passengers to accept vouchers for future travel. In some cases, airlines are giving false information to passengers on refund policies. Making this complaint, Prithviraj Chavan has also asked the Union Ministry to clarify on the refund policy.
