Lucknow: Congress workers staged a protest against the state government before the GPO over a scam in the purchase of PPE kits in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow on Saturday. Congress party national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote in a tweet that "There has been a corona kit scam in almost all the districts of UP. At the time of the corona pandemic, when millions of people are at risk of livelihood, the state government officials have made crores of rupees. Is the state government interested in saving scammers every time?"
In another tweet, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote, "In the schemes meant for the general public at the time of the disaster, the BJP government, which cuts allowances, is running a gallop in the scam. The result is that the Corona kit scam is being done in almost every district of UP. The UP Congress has demonstrated and warned the government to stop saving scammers".
On the other hand, when the protestors passed through the GPO to surround the assembly during the protest, the policemen present there prevented them. In the meantime, angry Congress workers were agitated. The police chased the congressmen who were performing under the leadership of Metropolitan Congress Committee chairman Mukesh Singh Chouhan. The protestors were taken into custody by the police over their demands.
