Lucknow: National General Secretary of the Congress Priyanka Vadra is holding a meeting of top state leaders in Delhi on the by-elections to 13 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka Vadra is said to be holding talks with senior party leaders on the appointment of Uttar Pradesh Congress President along with brainstorming on the names of UP by-election candidates.
It is worth mentioning here that the Congress had decided to contest the 2019 elections alone after the failure of its alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the 2017 assembly elections. Priyanka Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia were then appointed general secretaries of two different parts of the state. The Trump card of Congress did not give the party any special benefits. Most of the Congress party units in UP were then dissolved.
Now, once again Priyanka Vadra is forming new units and its office bearers to strengthen the party in the state. That's why this meeting is quite important. In Uttar Pradesh, the strategy will be discussed after the meeting of top Congress leaders. In addition, the office-bearers of the organization will be selected. The party's strategy will be decided in the coming by-elections.
