Professor's shameful act for good numbers, girls express pain in front of police

Nagpur: Students of a college in Nagpur, Maharashtra have levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment against a professor. The students have filed a case against the HoD of the Computer Science department at the police station for demanding physical relations in lieu of good marks in the examination.

The students of the Sindhu College have lodged a case against the department's HOD Rakesh Gedam at Pachpavli police station. In the complaint, the girls alleged that the professor used to lure students in his class to pass with good marks and demand a relationship or threaten to fail. After receiving a complaint from the students, a case has been registered against Prof Rakesh Gedam under several sections of the IPC at Pachpawali police station. The professor absconded as soon as the case was registered. At the same time, as soon as the incident came to light, the college administration also suspended HOD Rakesh Gedam.

Several girls of Sindhu College have also alleged that in the case filed against the professor at the Pachpavli police station, he used to deliberately touch her body several times. After the entire case was brought to light by the activists of Shiv Sena's youth wing Yuva Sena, other students also filed cases in the police station. Senior inspector Sanjay Mendhe of Panchapavali police station said, "So far, we have recorded the statements of three victim students.
