Protest in Srinagar for removal of Section 370, Omar Abdullah's sister detained

Srinagar: More than 70 days have passed since Article 370 of the Constitution giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir. After so many days, civil society protested in Srinagar today i.e. on Tuesday. Several Kashmiri women opposed the repeal of Section 370 at Lal Chowk. Safia, sister of former CM Omar Abdullah, was also involved in this protest. Women protesting were also detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Earlier on Saturday, the government announced that the long ban on postpaid mobile services from all parts of Kashmir Valley would be lifted from Monday. Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said in a press conference held in Srinagar that "postpaid mobile services in all 10 districts of Kashmir region will be restored at 12 noon on Monday." According to him, 40 lakh postpaid mobiles will start working.

Let us tell you that mobile and landline services were stopped in the valley only after the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution on 5 August. The government had taken these steps as a precaution due to the possibility of something untoward so that the condition would be peaceful.
