Hijab controversy: College administration bowed to Muslim girl students' demand

Bangalore: The college has taken a major decision for Muslim girls seeking to sit in class wearing hijabs at PU college in Udupi, Karnataka. According to this decision, the hijab-wearing girls will be given a separate room by the college administration to sit. But she will get admission to the class only if she takes off her hijab and attends the class in the prescribed uniform.

PU College Development Committee spokesperson Mohandas Shinoy told the press that the 135-year-old college can no longer be defamed due to unnecessary controversy. Muslim girls who are protesting to sit in the classroom wearing hijab will be given a separate room. But she will get admission to the classroom only when she takes off her headscarf. Committee spokesperson Shinoy appealed to the parents during this time to support the college administration by fulfilling their obligations and the students should also follow the uniform code fixed by the college.

PU college has been in constant discussion since the hijab controversy started in the college located in Udupi, Karnataka. Yesterday, the police also arrested two suspects from there. They were identified as Razzab and Haji Abdul Majeed. The police seized the weapons of the two. The search for three other suspects is ongoing.
