Puducherry: The number of infected people in the Union Territory increased to 1,21,252 after 120 new cases of corona infection were reported in a day in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Health Department Director S Mohan Kumar said on Friday that out of the new cases, the Puducherry region has the highest number of 85 cases, Karaikal 15, Mahe 18, and Yanam has only two new cases.

In the Union Territory, 907 people are currently undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection, out of which 162 are admitted to the hospital and 745 are quarantined. He said the death toll from corona in the Union Territory has gone up to 1,798 after three women died of infection. Mohan Kumar said that the number of people who have been freed from infection in the Union Territory has increased to 12,99,072 after 95 more people recovered in the last 24 hours. The rate of infected samples is 2.04 percent. The recovery rate of patients is 97.77 percent and the death rate due to Covid-19 is 1.48 percent.

He said that so far 37,867 health workers and 23,973 personnel deployed on the front have been given covid-19 vaccine supplements. About 5.11 lakh people above the age of 45 years have been vaccinated against senior citizens and those already suffering from any disease. Overall, the health department has vaccinated 7.18 lakh people with corona.
