Mumbai: Maharashtra Medical Council has issued a new order for MBBS doctors. This order states that no one will forge professional relationships with homoeopathy and Unani doctors. This means that MBBS doctors cannot work closely with homoeopathy and Ayurvedic doctors in the state. If a doctor does so, he will be found guilty and strict action will be taken against him.

While issuing the circular in this case, the Maharashtra Medical Council has said, "If you work with a BAMS doctor or other doctor, then there may be action from suspension to revocation of the certificate." It is also being said that the Medical Council has taken this decision after giving permission to the doctors pursuing Ayurveda degree for surgery. Some doctors in Maharashtra say that this is not a new order but only once again MBBS doctors have reminded the rules.

Just last month, a notification was issued by the CCIM, which came under the Ministry of AYUSH, in which it was said, 'Ayurveda doctors will also be able to perform eye, nose, ear and throat surgery along with general and orthopaedic surgery. During that time, the Indian Medical Association also took a 12-hour strike against this decision of the government. Ayurveda students were taught about surgery till now, but there was no clear guideline on how to do surgery. In this sequence, the government has now notified that Ayurveda doctors will be able to perform general surgery along with eye, nose, ear, throat (ENT), for which they will be given special training.
