CHANDIGARH: Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab on Friday said due to ease-of-doing business policies, an investment of Rs30,000 crore has been finalised in the last 9 months, which will create new employment opportunities for thousands of youngsters.

He said this while presenting appointment letters to the recently hired candidates at Markfed and introducing new products there. "Big industry houses like Tata Steel, Verbio, Freudenberg and Sanathan Textiles have entered into agreements to invest by reposing faith in our industrial policies, which will provide jobs to our youth.

Referring to the latest meetings with industrialists in Hyderabad, the chief minsiter said that the businesspeople involved in food processing and agriculture have expressed a strong desire to invest in Punjab, which will further improve the state's industrial sector.

"Where there is a will, there is a way," as entrepreneurs are no longer need to go through a complicated and corrupt process in order to invest in the government. Mann said further the industrialists are coming to Punjab.  We have eradicated corruption, given the sector a steady supply of power, and created a favourable atmosphere, and now our efforts are paying off. On the other hand, the Chief Minister claimed that during prior administrations, industrialists had to enter into negotiations with the families of influential political figures in order to set up businesses. Previously, agreements were reached with families, but nowadays, businessmen are signing MoUs with the government.

The Chief Minster envisioned that with strenuous efforts of the government, Punjab will soon emerge as the industrial hub of the country.

The Chief Minister slammed the opposition for raising a stink about the allegedly deteriorating atmosphere in Punjab and claimed that the opposition party leaders were purposefully disparaging him in public forums because his administration had revealed previous administrations' plans to plunder the state. He said he was being opposed as he was not like his predecessors who had plundered the wealth of the state, adding that throughout his life he had worked for the wellbeing of Punjab and its people.
