Barnala: The debt that has been passed down from generation to generation for the last 50 years has ended the family lineage in the village Bhotna under Barnala district of Punjab. The Six male farmers of the family have committed suicide so far due to failure to repay the loan, but their debt has not ended. Now there are only three women left in the family. From great-grandfather to great-grandson, all have passed into the cheek of time. In fact, on September 10, 21-year-old Lovepreet Singh alias Labbo of the same family in village Bhotna committed suicide by drinking poision in the field. 

Now in this family, only 70-year-old grandmother of deceased Lovepreet Singh, Guldeep Kaur, 50-year-old mother Harpal Kaur and 23-year-old sister Manpreet Kaur are left. Since this heartbreaking incident, the tears of his eyes have also wept dryly. There is no remaining earning man left in the house. Guldip Kaur, an elder of the family in village Bhotna, told the media that Lovpreet's great-grandfather Joginder Singh had taken some loan from the adhatti, which he could not repay. That is why in 1970 he died by drinking spray. After this, the burden of this debt came on Lord Singh, brother of Lavpreet's great-grandfather, and he committed suicide by hanging himself in 1980.

With increasing interest day by day, the debt also grew like a mountain and the family members took loans from the bank and co-operative society further. In 2000, Lavpreet's uncle Jagtar Singh also embraced death in the year 2000, because of not being able to repay it. After the forced Lovepreet Singh's father Kulwant Singh, on 6 January 2018 and on 10 September this year, the only man in the family, Lovepreet, also chose the path to die due to debt. Even after so many lives, the family still owes a loan of Rs 15 lakh.
