To effectively deal with Corona on Tuesday, the Punjab Cabinet gave permission to fill 3954 vacant posts in the Health Department and 291 posts in the Medical Education and Research Department. The spokesman said that a cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of CM Captain Amarinder Singh in the Chief Minister's Office.

It was decided that out of 3954 posts in the Health Department, 2966 posts will be filled in the first phase while the remaining 988 posts will be filled in the next phase, which will be vacant on 30 September 2020. The Cabinet has also approved to continue the recruitment of Medical Officers (Specialists) by the walk-in-interview on behalf of the Special Selection Committee under the leadership of Dr. KK Talwar. Similarly, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot has been approved to recruit doctors, paramedical and other staff from the circle of Punjab Public Service Commission and Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board.

In Punjab, 235 Medical Officers (General), one Medical Officer Specialist (Microbiologist), four Medical Officer Specialists (Social Preventive Medicine), 35 Medical Officers (Dental), 598 Staff Nurse, 180 Pharmacist (Pharmacy Officer) ), 600 multipurpose health workers (female) and 200 multipurpose health workers (men), 139 radiographers, 44 dialysis technicians, 116 operation theater assistants, 14 ECG technicians, 800 ward attendants will be recruited. Apart from these, it has decided to recruit 265 Medical Officers (General), 323 Medical Officers Specialists, 302 Pharmacists (Pharmacy Officers), and 98 MLT (Grade-2) for a total of 988 posts to be vacated on September 30, 2020.
