Punjab's Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, distributed appointment letters to as many as 250 candidates representing various government departments in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
During this ceremony, he took a subtle dig at the previous administrations, particularly former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, questioning his leadership by asking whether he truly lived up to the title of "captain."
Regarding the former Finance Minister's tenure, Bhagwant Mann pointed out that for nine years, there was a consistent narrative of an empty treasury. In contrast, Mann emphasized the importance of instilling hope in the people, clarifying that he never declared the treasury as completely empty but acknowledged significant financial inefficiencies. He highlighted the current substantial revenue generated from the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is contributing to the growth of Punjab's treasury through various means.
Addressing the current employment scenario, Mann disclosed that the state had created 36,097 job opportunities, emphasizing the government's commitment to providing dignified means of livelihood to its citizens.
In a rhetorical response to criticism from the Prime Minister, Mann questioned who had made a promise of providing 15 lakh rupees to the people. He went on to emphasize that their government was focused on creating job opportunities to enable people to lead respectable lives, rather than just distributing freebies.
