Amritsar: Punjab Congress unit President Navjot Singh Sidhu seems to be facing problems. Amidst serious allegations levelled by elder sister Suman Toor calling him a cruel man, Sidhu has now come to light in the wake of huge arrears of electricity bills. Sidhu has not paid the electricity bill of his residence in Amritsar for a long time. In such a situation, the amount of the bill that Sidhu has been due for the last six months has become Rs 4,22,330.

According to media reports, the bill due on Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was issued on January 19, 2022, and it also includes surcharge and interest on the outstanding amount. It is being told that Sidhu has not paid the electricity bill since August 2021. Despite so many arrears, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is yet to disconnect Sidhu's electricity connection.

Let me tell you that, this is not the first time that Sidhu has not paid the electricity bill on time. In July 2021, he had triggered a similar controversy when the PSPCL paid him an outstanding electricity bill of Rs 8,74,784. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has announced a cut of Rs 3 per unit on electricity in November 2021, while Sidhu has also been promising 300 units of free electricity to domestic customers in the state.
