In order to ensure prompt and emergency services to the patients of epidemic corona infection, the state government will bring 77 new ambulance vehicles into service. Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu of Punjab Government informed this on Friday. He said that 15 basic life support / BLS (BLS) ambulances were flagged off from here. On this occasion, he said that the state government has approved the purchase of 100 more vehicles to meet the shortage of ambulances in government hospitals. He said that orders have been placed for the purchase of 77 ambulances in the first phase, out of which 17 Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances have already been given to the cities.
The minister informed that the supply of 60 BLS ambulances has started and under this, the first consignment of 15 ambulances was received today. He informed that the rest of the ambulance will be supplied by the end of August. The minister said, "These ambulances are proving to be one of the main pillars of fighting corona by reducing the time required for critical patients' health facilities." According to an official statement, there are currently 19 ALS and 223 BLS ambulances in service in the state.
