CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police have solved the hand-grenade attack at the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) office in Nawanshahr by busting a major Pakistan-based terror module led by Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, and arresting three of its operatives, Director General of Police V.K. Bhawra said here on Monday.

On the nights of November 7 and 8, 2021, a hand grenade was thrown with the goal of killing police officers. The officials present, on the other hand, were unharmed.

Manish Kumar, a native of village Bains in Nawanshahr, Ramandeep Singh of Jalandhar district, and Pardeep Singh of SBS Nagar district have been detained. One hand grenade was also found in their hands, according to the police.  The Counter Intelligence wing and the SBS Nagar police, according to Bhawra, have apprehended three suspects following a lengthy and thorough investigation.

Ramandeep confessed to throwing the hand grenade with Manish on Harvinder Singh's orders, according to the DGP, who also stated that Ramandeep had picked up two hand grenades from the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road as directed by Rinda.

Sandeep Kumar, SSP SBS Nagar, said that while one hand grenade was used in the attack in Nawanshahr, another P-80 hand grenade, similar to the one used in the attack, was recovered following Ramandeep's admission. He stated that Harvinder made a contract with Ramandeep for Rs 4 lakh to carry out the attack.
