Punjabi artist Deep Singh Sidhu and his brother Mandeep have been summoned by the National Investigation Agency to Delhi today for questioning. Deep Sidhu is associated with the farmer protest and the protestors are supporting the farmers. On receiving a summons from NIA, Deep Singh Sidhu said that NIA is acting on the signal of the central government. Earlier on Saturday, NIA had summoned Deep, before his brother Mandeep was also summoned by the NIA for questioning. Today, NIA officials will inquire into a case against a separatist organisation named Sikh for Justice.
The NIA has summoned about 20 persons to Delhi for questioning. Deep Singh Sidhu said he had nothing to do with any organisation called Sikh for Justice. He said that by sending summons through NIA, the centre wants to threaten the people who are accompanying the farmers. During the last Lok Sabha elections, Deep Singh had campaigned in support of BJP candidate Sunny Deol.
Deep Singh Sidhu said, "I was not surprised to see the summons, the government is doing all that is possible to intimidate the protestors. I'm not going to make a difference with these notices. I have no connection with the Sikh for Justice, there is no reason why I should be in the contact of those people. Those who are the people don't even have this information to me." On Saturday itself, the NIA had summoned Baldev Singh Sirsa, president of the Public Good Justice Welfare Society, who was involved in the farmers' protest, for questioning.
