People are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness on Purple day.
Epilepsy is a disease that affects over 50 million people across the world. In India, itself, around 12 million people suffer from the disease. Even as epilepsy is as widespread as it is, not a lot is known about it. People refrain from conversation when it comes to the disease and hence, several misconceptions are also associated with it.
Purple Day has grown into a well known and supported national awareness day with thousands of people across Australia gathering within their community, education and corporate sectors to raise much-needed awareness and funds for those affected by epilepsy.
Last year, people in more than 85 countries on all continents participated in Purple Day! Canada is the only country in the world that officially recognizes March 26th as Purple Day through the Purple Day Act implemented on June 28, 2012.
